PLAN INVOLVEMENT: I started with PLAN in 2006 as a part time Care Assistant and over the years continued to expand upon my role, which has now morphed into the Care Manager. I help families manage appointments required for health management as well as many other functions such as shopping for food and housing. I also support our recreation program as the facilitator of the Be Active program.
BACKGROUND: I have an Associate of Arts from The University of Cincinnati, Blue Ash Collage. I’ve completed training as a peer supporter in mental health, Mental Health First Aid, and frequently attend continuing education classes with a focus on mental health issues. I have facilitated peer led groups for the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) prior to working for PLAN.
WHY PLAN: I joined the PLAN family because I was called to support people who struggle with mental health as well as other illnesses that affect the quality of life. Finding joy and fun in life can be difficult when your life revolves around your mental or physical health care. I enjoy helping others find a reason to smile.
FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I’m an animal lover and a lover of life. I have empathy for families like mine who strive to overcome mental health challenges to find contentment and satisfaction in life. I have a teenage son, a beagle, a dachshund, four cats and a corn snake at home. In my spare time you might find me caring for my animals or spending time at many of the wonderful parks we have in Cincinnati with my son. I’m an active member of my church and a current board member. I am also active with the Woman’s City Club of Greater Cincinnati.
